CleanScreen Highway, Large-scalePractical Test A28

On average, 65,000 vehicles per day use the A28, of which 9,750 are lorries. Analyse van de filters shows that thequantity of collected particulates is equivalent to the amount emitted by about8,000 lorries.

Using these results,KEMA made model calculations involving the KEMA STACKS+ model approved by theMinistry of Traffic, Transport, Spatial Planning and the Environment (VROM).KEMA's main conclusions on CleanScreen are as follows:

  • PM10 concentrations in µg/m3 are considerably lower than with standard acoustic screens.
  • With a screen height of 2 metres, CleanScreen Highway delivers a PM10 concentration that is 27% lower than calculated for a standard 2-metre high screen.
  • A four-metre high CleanScreen Highway performs better than a standard screen that is eight metres high.
  • CleanScreen Highway causes a lasting decrease in PM10 concentrations, even at some distance from the road.

CleanScreen has thereforedemonstrated the effect of the screen in this practical test..
